I woke up this morning with a poem that wanted to be born. Doesn't happen all that often, but I've learned that when the inspiration comes upon me, all I can do really is give it the space to arrive. I remember once having to pull over on the side of the interstate on the way to work a few years ago and write that particular poem out on a napkin I found in the glove compartment :-). Anyway, here it is:

I'll See You on the Outside

You’ve served your time
You’ve paid your dues
So dry the tears of your inner child
Precious and wild
Tears shed as you toiled away
Day after day after day
Your soul clinging to the edge
Of your sanity

Nothing is what it seems
Dream your life
Then paint your dreams
If not now then when?

The excuse factory has closed its doors
Excuse making has been outsourced
It’s no longer your job or duty
Now you get to become the beauty
You love
The change
You wish to see

Live outside the box
Draw outside the lines
Come outside to play
Laugh out loud today
Sing your songs
Unsung since childhood
Dance because you must
Play because you trust
That Life supports you
And all you do

Bust out the walls
Blow off the lids
The boxes of your life
Can no longer contain you
You’ve outgrown their dimensions

Climb the ladder
Escape the cube
Throw down a few ladders
For others to use
in their own escape
And then peruse
The landscape of freedom
Breathe the fresh air
Of sweet opportunity

Create the work you love to do
Do the work that feeds your soul
Dream your life
Live your dream
I’ll see you on the outside

Hey thanks Nick! Yeah, I've busted out too. I finally reached the point when I could not justify the insanity of it another day. The poem I wrote on the side of the highway was a few years ago. Now I do commune with nature daily. Stay close to the earth, commune with my herb seedlings and get to hike each day in the national forest that begins at the edge of this property...much much more sane.
And I'm sure my poetry will begin to reflect this as time heals my fractured soul.

You take care too Nick!

Beatiful sis, feel the Spirit of truth emanating from it. Did you post this yet in poetic heart? This would be a wonderful addition there and easier to find.
