Ajde Jano - a song that was altered to mean something else

An old Serbian song from Kosovo. This song originally talks of keeping old beliefs, etc and not selling the house - an analogy for self but has been changed over the years to let's sell the house.

The words in Serbian and English

Kad prodamo Jano more, kako da igramo

kad prodamo Jano more, kako da igramo

Come on Jana(pronounced Yahnah - girl's name), let's dance the kolo(Serbian circle dance)
Come on Jana, come on dearest, let's dance the kolo
Come on Jana, come on dearest, let's look at one another

Come on Jana, let's sing our songs
Come on Jana, come on dearest, let's preserve them
Come on Jana, come on dearest, let's keep our treasure

Come on Jana, let's saddle our horse
Come on Jana, come on dearest, let's go for a walk
Down to the clear stream, to wash

Come on Jana, let's not give up our house
Let's not give, Jana dearest, let's not sell it
When we sell it Jana dearest, how will we dance
When we sell it my Jana, how will we dance

Let's not give, Jana dearest, let's not sell it
When we sell it my Jana, how will we dance
